Gotham season 5: Why isn’t it at San Diego Comic-Con?

Gotham

Why isn’t Gotham season 5 at San Diego Comic-Con? That is a logical question to ask, especially when many other Warner Bros. TV-produced superhero shows are there.

As is often the case with omissions, though, there are probably some specific reasons for it. Within this article, we try to piece some of those together.

1. Scheduling – Filming for Gotham season 5 is really just beginning this month, so it’s not like in past years where the show is many weeks into production before heading over to the convention. Because of this, Gotham really would not have all that much to even show from the upcoming season just yet.

2. Cost – bringing the Gotham cast over to San Diego isn’t cheap, given that you are bringing over a pretty big group from New York City. If this wasn’t the final season of the show, maybe there would be more of a willingness to do it — we could say the same thing if it was premiering in the fall. With Gotham not premiering until 2019, maybe some higher-up determined that there wasn’t going to be that much of a promotional boost from having the show there.

3. Opportunities elsewhere – With Gotham, there will be other opportunities for the cast to get in front of their fans. Many of the actors are regulars at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest conventions, and there is also potential for everyone to be at New York Comic-Con later this year. That feels like the perfect venue for the show, and beyond that there will be enough footage shot at that point that they should be able to show off some real footage.

There is at least one ambassador for the cast who is in San Diego this weekend in David Mazouz, so it’s possible we will hear some more scoop from him over the coming days — though we still wish the whole cast was there.
