Blue Bloods season 9 photo: The gang’s back together again…

Isn’t this week a rather delightful time in which to be a Blue Bloods fan? With season 9 filming underway, we like to think so. It’s exciting to see the cast so eager to be back to work, just as it’s also exciting to see some photographic evidence of the group doing more of what they do best.

For some of this said evidence, all you have to do is check out the photo via Donnie Wahlberg. Here, you can see himself alongside Marisa Ramirez (Baez), Will Estes (Jamie), Vanessa Ray (Eddie), and special guest Lou Diamond Phillips — there still isn’t much information out there when it comes to Phillips’ role, but we hope that he’s going to be a fantastic foil to someone like Danny Reagan. While Danny has been through a lot, a big part of what makes this show so fascinating is that you continue to see him still put through his paces. You do want to see him tested because it is so central to the show and the story. We don’t see that changing, but beyond that we’re also not sure that we want to see that changing. Otherwise, the series ends up being entirely different.

In the weeks to come, we imagine that there are going to be some more filming updates and other surprises mixed in — we don’t anticipate the first promo coming until late August / early September, so you probably do have a while to go in order to see something resembling new footage. We haven’t seen photographic evidence of every single actor yet on set, so we’re hoping to get a few more updates in that direction in the near future.
