Suits season 8: No current plans for Abigail Spencer return

Suits season 8

While there are many different things that we do want to see on Suits season 8 moving forward, getting more Abigail Spencer is high on the list. At the moment, Timeless is over — we certainly want to see more of it, but there’s nothing about a Scottie reprisal on Suits that would preclude her from doing more of that show. It seems perfectly feasible that there would be a way in which she could do an episode or two as Scottie before going back to playing Lucy Preston. (Of course, we’re assuming a lot that any of this would even happen.

Speaking via DeadlineSuits creator Aaron Korsh made it clear that, at least for now, there are no plans for Scottie to return:

You know, I should call her. Every year, one of us will call the other one and say, do you want to come in, or she’ll say can I come in, and we’ll figure it out, and the challenge is, unless you’re going to pursue something between her and Harvey, because usually she’s not available permanently, and I have shied away from wanting to do another, they may be together and then they end up not being together. The challenge is to integrate her in a different way, and we’ve always figured out a way to do it, but I haven’t seen her since the [Royal Wedding], and I haven’t talked to her yet about coming back this year.

As we’ve noted before, we do think that there are ways to bring her back just as a legal adversary/ally that have nothing to do with the relationship that Scottie had with Harvey. We just think that their history adds a richness to anything and everything that could happen with the two of them. The more different familiar faces we’ve got on Suits, the better the end product is going to be. We firmly believe that, and we think already that the eighth season is off to a stronger start than we initially expected.
