America’s Got Talent video: Christina Wells performs ‘Greatest Showman’ song
Remember Christina Wells’ America’s Got Talent audition? It was an emotional one in terms of both her talent and her story.
Moving into the Judge Cuts round, though, things are a little different. There are a lot of really talented people, just as there are also a number of performers with great stories. That makes things so much more competitive. Luckily, we do think that Wells gives herself the best overall chance at standing out by singing here “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman, which you can see previewed more in the video below (via USA Today). This song is super-modern in that people have been talking about this movie for months; it may be a little bit theatrical, but this may be the angle that Wells really wants to go in. If she does well on this show, she could very well land a career on Broadway down the line! We do think that there are a lot of different opportunities that could be open for her.
Let’s start by making one thing rather clear: Those notes at the end of the song are fantastic, in between the pitch of them and her vibrato. She really stands out here in all of the right ways. We do think that the performance before that, though, is a little bit shaky. Maybe that’s just nerves, or she knew she was building towards something big at the end and she absolutely wanted to nail that. No matter the reason, it’s pretty clear to us by the end of this performance that Christina is a winner. She’s probably going to be able to move on to the next round and the major question we ponder is just if she can get enough votes to sustain herself and have a long run after that.
