NCIS season 16 starts filming; see new video via Brian Dietzen

NCIS

For everyone excited about NCIS season 16, know this: Production on the latest batch of episodes is underway!

In the video below, cast member Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer) confirmed that he just wrapped up doing the first scene of the first episode of the season. This is for a season that will premiere on September 25, and we like to think that Palmer being involved from the get-go is going to serve as a great foundation for some rather-excellent stories to follow.

When NCIS season 16 does premiere, we imagine that one of the priorities right away is going to be ensuring that Leon Vance is properly rescued after he was captured in the closing minutes of season 15. This served as a rather-excellent cliffhanger; while we like to think that he will be okay, we do always worry about characters in his position. He’s also been in charge for quite some time, and sometimes, that does lend itself to some shake-ups.

The challenge for NCIS beyond that is the same one that it always has at this point in its run: Trying to find a way to cultivate interesting, exciting stories that are new and haven’t quite been done on the show before. One of the things that the series does have going for it, though, is that it is probably coming off of one of its best seasons in the past couple of years, and we like to think that this has a carry-over effect. It’s still not entirely clear how the series is officially replacing Abby, but hopefully that is some information that is coming up in the near future.

NCIS hopefully has many more surprises in store for us in general, and we’ll have those for you in the weeks ahead.
