Doctor Who season 11: More on Jodie Whittaker’s high-energy Doctor
For starters, with Whittaker we are gearing up to have one of the most high-energy Doctors the show has had — or at least one that is on par with Matt Smith’s iteration. This is a comparison that is made within a new story over at Entertainment Weekly, one where Whittaker also does her part to describe the nature of this season … and also how her Doctor has a particular cadence that does create challenges for herself:
“Well, I would say that it’s hopeful and fizzing with wonder … I have absolutely shot myself in the foot for any ADR, because I get in there, and realize I speak at a hundred miles an hour. If a plane goes over I’m like, ‘Are you kidding?’ I’ve got to try and match that speech of ‘Di-didda-di-didda-di-didda’? But essentially I think the big theme is hope.”
One of the things that is so great about Doctor Who is that, fundamentally, this is a series that wants to spread a message of love, optimism, and imagination. In the time of the world that we are in, we do think that some of these messages do matter more so than they have ever before. We want this to be a happy, inclusive show, one that viewers of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy together as a family. We also, of course, want it to be a visual marvel with creative characters, as well.
Odds are, so much more about Doctor Who season 11 will be unveiled later this month at San Diego Comic-Con.
