Lucifer: How to support Tom Ellis, cast at the next awards show

We know that some Lucifer fans out there may be bummed about the lack of Emmy nominations today. It was largely expected, mostly because it wasn’t on the radar of most critics (even if we pulled for Tom Ellis) and it doesn’t seem to be in the sort of genre that the Emmys tend to recognize.

So how can you still support the show at another televised awards ceremony? Well, we’d suggest holding out for the People’s Choice Awards! It feels like it’s been forever since it has been on the air, and that’s mostly because it’s true. The People’s Choice Awards are actually happening on E! this year and they will air on Sunday, November 11. This move was made after E! acquired the show from CBS, mostly to give it a larger platform and to separate from some of the other awards shows that are happening in January.

While it’s far too early to know the nominees or the like, if People’s Choice voting is like it has been in the past, they often have a phase where you can name nominees and then another one where fans vote on a smaller group of them. If Lucifer gets enough support from the start of that awards show, it could end up getting into the main nominees list and take home some hardware! We’ve seen some big upsets at the show before — Outlander, for example, won multiple trophies at the 2017 awards show, even if for some reason CBS chose to completely ignore them during their telecast.

Consider this just something to keep in mind over the coming weeks as we inevitably get closer to the premiere of Lucifer season 4 on Netflix in the new year — it could also be a rather nice way to garner some more publicity after waiting for so long to get these new episodes.
