Lucifer season 4 debate: Is March the right time to premiere it?

Lucifer

When could we see Lucifer season 4 on Netflix? It’s a question that many people certainly have, but unfortunately, it’s also probably a question we won’t have answers to for some time.

What we do know with confidence is this: There is almost certainly not going to be any episodes this year. Filming has yet to begin for the ten episodes coming up, and with Netflix releasing all of them at once, they need to wait until they are properly edited and pieced together before actually making them available. Depending on when filming ends, it could be a tall order having them ready by January — even though that would be great, especially since spending some time with the devil would be a nice way to make it easy to stay inside and avoid the cold weather in some parts of the country.

So what about February? We certainly wouldn’t mind it, but for Netflix we wonder if they’re worried about finding a way to get a lot of promotion in this time of the year. It’s right in the middle of sweeps, which means you have to compete against everything from new episodes of a number of other shows to also awards ceremonies, the NFL playoffs, and then even the Oscars when you get to the end of the month.

Is March actually the right time to launch the latest season? From some vantage points, we absolutely understand why it could be. Take, for starters, actually getting a chance to air new episodes at a time in which there is less on at other networks. That may also be plenty of time for the cast and crew to get everything in post-production wrapped up. Also, there’s plenty of time for Netflix to figure out on the other side whether or not they should order a season 5. (Here’s a clue: They really should.)

While we’d personally love to see Lucifer season 4 well before March, that may be the perfect timing when you think about production needs + capitalizing on an opportunity.
