Madam Secretary season 5 officially begins filming

Madam Secretary

It’s that time of year again when our favorite shows begin to film and for CBS’s Madam Secretary that’s exactly the case. Executive producer Lori McCreary tweeted today that Season 5 is underway. Fans should be exciting about this because as the season continues filming, the more information we can get about this upcoming season.

Season 4 ended with Elizabeth admitting what we have all wanted to hear her say since she became Secretary of State and a good one at that. As she and Henry sat in front of the Lincoln Memorial Elizabeth told him that she wants to run for President. As the scene faded to black after that many fans were overjoyed to hear it. It was foreshadowed back in Season 2 episode 1, “The Show Must Go On” when Elizabeth took the oath of office after President Dalton’s plane disappeared over the Pacific. While she was only “in office” for a short time, the writers wanted to give fans an obvious hint that Elizabeth would one day attempt to run for President.

It’s a natural move. After four seasons of watching Elizabeth do her job better than thought possible, it’s completely natural that she would consider taking the next step. The series has also told us over the years that many people feel threatened by her because she’s popular among the people and has more allies than foes in Congress. She’s a force to be reckoned with and we have a feeling that when the time comes, this will be a storyline as future opponents may to start to attack her.

In Lori McCreary’s tweet we also learn that Eric Stoltz will be directing and creator Barbara Hall along with David Grae have written the episode. All three have been with the show since the beginning and have directed and written some of the best episodes of the series so it’s great to see them leading the way for Season 5 episode 1.

In addition to the crew, the tweet reveals that Elizabeth and Henry will have another one of their bedroom talks where they talk about work away from the kids and where Henry many times helps guide Elizabeth in her decision-making process. We have always enjoyed this scenes and are happy to see we will see one right off the bat.

Madam Secretary returns Sunday Oct. 7th on CBS at 10 p.m. EST. For more news related to Madam Secretary, be sure to visit this link.
