America’s Got Talent video: Meet Oscar the singing dog, owner Pam
The moment that Simon hears from Oscar’s owner Pam that singing is his talent, you can automatically see the lights in Simon’s eyes. If there’s one thing that we’ve really come to know about him over the years, it’s that Simon is here for any animal act — a singing dog is more or less his dream come true!
Yet, don’t expect Oscar to strut around the stage singing lyrics or doing anything of the like. His “singing” (per the USA Today video below) is really just him howling, occasionally on pitch, to Pam’s piano playing. There is something charming to this, especially on the occasion in which his voice actually matches the notes that Pam is playing. Yet, at the same time that is only happening occasionally.
There is a massive part of us that wants to root for Oscar in the same way that we would just about any dog act, given that they offer up so much variety to the series. Yet, this feels almost more like something you show off when you invite your friends over for game night. It’s fun for about a minute or so, but where do you go after that? It also feels like a really unpredictable thing so we have no idea how this works moving into the live shows. We do think Oscar will probably make it at least to Judge Cuts, largely because this entire act is so weird and there’s not a whole lot else out there like it.

We don’t want to go overboard using the whole “you’re what this show is about” cliché, but in this case, it really does feel appropriate! It just makes you smile and it’s the perfect sort of AGT audition for this stage of the game.
