America’s Got Talent video: Angel Garcia sings ‘El Triste’ at audition
The performance that he does in the video below is to the classic song “El Triste,” which first came out almost fifty years ago. It’s not an easy song to perform, given that you need both an immense musical range and then also the ability to relate to the lyrics and the messaging of it. Luckily, it does feel as though Angel pulls this off. He understands the weight of what he’s singing and doesn’t seem to shrink from the moment at all.
Garcia has the potential to make it reasonably far this season, and while there are a wide array of different singers, we do think that it helps him immensely that he is a very different sort of singer to everyone else that we’re getting in this competition. He sings a different sort of music and, in turn, is probably going to appeal to a rather different sort of audience.
As for whether or not he could actually get the golden buzzer, though, know this: He’s probably not going to get it. There isn’t a single act that NBC has leaked so far this year who has, in turn, gotten it on the show. They like there to be some sort of element of surprise when it comes to their Golden Buzzer performances, and not just have all of them be immediately obvious from the time in which you first see someone perform on the show.
