Nashville season 6 episode 13 review: Are Avery, Juliette on the way to anything?
Going into Nashville season 6 episode 13, it was clear that there were many different things that the series needed to achieve. For starters, they needed to continue the journey of Juliette back home, but we’re not sure that there was enough movement to make some people out there especially happy.
That’s especially true for everyone interested in seeing something more with Juliette and Avery, who really are not all that closer to a reunion. Yet, Juliette is trying to give him some space in the aftermath of her return / seeing him with Alannah. Even though that she does want her family back together, she does not want him to be with her just because she’s pregnant. That’s why the two seem to be moving forward at a somewhat-glacial place … even slower than Deacon and Jessie, who have to move slowly and carefully thanks largely to the custody battle that is going on with Brad.
Brad didn’t see the two’s brief reunion tonight, largely because of the fact that they were a little bit busy dealing with another important issue: Trying to get Daphne further on his singing competition, this time by convincing her that she needs to perform without her guitar in order to better expose who she “really is” to the viewing public. She did listen to his advice and it worked, but is she really on the way towards being a star? Or, is she really just doing something for the sake of short-term celebrity that will lead to so many more problems for her down the road?
As for elsewhere within this episode, there is still a lot of tension between Deacon and his father Gideon, so much so that we don’t quite think that any of that is going to go away in the reasonably-near future. Scarlett also is considering now a return to the stage, which is probably going to be a way to channel her need for healing. She’s been putting a lot of that into Sean as of late, pushing him at times further than she should have.
CarterMatt Verdict
Was Nashville season 6 episode 13 do enough in order for it to be entertaining? That’s a question that seems to be up for debate. There was a lot that happened, but in turn, it still feels like there is so much further to go.
