Lucifer season 4: When could first casting news come out?

Just because Lucifer is saved doesn’t mean that our coverage is going to stop, and we like to think that this latest discussion is proof!

At the center of this particular article is a question regard casting — when could we learn more about some of the new faces coming when the series returns, presumably next year? While we already know that there is one new character in particular we’re going to meet, it’s hard to imagine that Netflix / studio Warner Bros. is going to be altogether keen to make an announcement. After all, there is really zero reason for them to rush things along. Why do that when they don’t have to?

Odds are, the new cast members for season 4 will be announced come late July / August as we gear up for the start of production. Following that, there will probably be a few more announcements for individual episodes along the way. We don’t really think that the process of announcing castings, or doing anything else when it comes to the series behind the scenes, is really going to be any different with Lucifer over on Netflix. The production may have a few differences in terms of what they can and can’t do now that there are no Standards & Practices being enforced, but by and large we don’t think there are too many differences behind the scenes — the big difference comes via how we watch it.

One more thing that we’ll say on the grounds of casting is simply that Lucifer all of a sudden seems to be an even more attractive destination than ever before. While we knew it had a devoted audience before the cancellation, its fandom is infinitely more public than it once was. Also, Netflix is a preferred destination for many performers these days due to its ever-increasing popularity, and the good thing about doing a ten-episode season is that there are opportunities to do a wide array of things on the other side. That is actually one of the things that Timeless enabled its own cast to do with its ten-episode season 2. (Also … #SaveTimeless.)
