Timeless deleted scene shows new twist on Future Lucy

Timeless season 2

While we wait and see if Timeless finds a new home following its cancellation at NBC, CarterMatt has a deleted scene for you below that was certainly unexpected.

In the video, you can see that production planned on unleashing the Future Lucy twist back during the first season. You can see Future Lucy, dressed in a very different outfit (and sporting a different hairstyle), watching over the present-day incarnation of the character freak out over the fact that her sister was gone and that her mother was very much alive and well. As we found out later at the end of season 1, Carol was actually a very-active part of Rittenhouse.

So why was this scene cut? As the writers room makes it clear, they simply decided that this was a twist that they wanted to save for a little bit later on in the series — to be specific, the end of the second season. This does raise a number of interesting questions, though, including why the writers originally decided to break one of the rules of time-travel with Lucy early on in the season. Her purpose is an interesting question, but one that exists now outside of the main canon of the series. Given that this isn’t being included during what NBC put on the air, we do now have to assume that it didn’t happen within the regular timeline.

Ultimately, giving us this scene is the writers doing what they can to remind us once more that Timeless is very much a show worthy of being saved, and the campaign to make that happen is still going strong as they’ve done an amazing job fighting and helping to rally the fans. We’d love to see this lead to a pickup somewhere, but as of right now we haven’t heard anything definite on the subject of a future home.
