The Good Doctor season 2: House alum Lisa Edelstein to recur

Good Doctor episode 2 ratings

For anyone out there wondering when The Good Doctor would utilize some actors from David Shore’s House, we’ve now got a pretty good idea.

Per a report from Deadline, Lisa Edelstein, fresh off of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, is going to be recurring on the ABC series starting with the premiere episode. She is set to play the character of expert oncologist Dr. Blaize, who is returning to the St. Bonaventure Hospital following a suspension in order to help treat Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff). She is both highly driven and incredibly smart, and with that she has no fear of standing up to Glassman if he disagrees with him.

This is the first time that Edelstein has worked with Shore following her departure from House, where she played the part of Cuddy for the majority of the series’ run. While this is another role on a medical drama for her we’ve got a feeling that this one will be very different. After all, The Good Doctor is itself a rather different show from House in that the main character is dealing with a very different sort of stresses. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is also much younger than Dr. Gregory House and has a different set of people in his life.

The Good Doctor season 2 will most likely premiere at some point this September, and with an episode written by Highmore himself. This series was one of the breakout success stories of the fall, and because of that, we’re not altogether shocked that this is where Edelstein would want to go after wrapping her run on the Bravo scripted series.
