Saturday Night Live cast member Leslie Jones was once Mikey Day’s waitress

SNL - Leslie Jones

In what has to be one of the funniest and most-random stories we’ve seen across the internet today, Saturday Night Live cast member Leslie Jones apparently waited on cast member Mikey Day when he was just a kid, decades before the two were ever famous on the NBC sketch show.

This week, Jones made the revelation public during a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, one where she explained that the two one day realized that their past in California actually has a small-world quality to it:

We were talking one day, and I found out — I’m 50 years old and Mikey’s I think in his 30s — and he told me that when he was little, he used to go to this restaurant in Orange County called Spoons. And he remembered this lady who used to wait on him. Dude — I was the f—ing lady! … I was like 18 or 19. Really young, but I was tall and loud. I said, ‘Did I make some kind of bad impression on you as a kid? Is that where your obsession with big black women beating you up comes from?’ We laughed for 15 minutes.

While there may not be anything altogether substantial here when it comes to the NBC show in the present, it’s just a wonderfully-funny thing to think about and it’s really not the sort of thing that happens anymore with so many people in world.

What also makes both Mikey and Leslie so likable as cast members on SNL is that both of them have really earned their spot on this show with hard work. Jones was around the comedy circuit for decades before finally getting her break, while Day was a part of several other comedy shows and was a writer here before finally getting the chance to be a main cast member. Now, they are two of the more notable people and we don’t envision that either one of them is leaving anytime soon.
