For everyone out there interested in one of the latest Outlander season 4 filming locations, it appears as though the cast and crew are deep into Faskally Forest in Scotland.
We’ve seen a few different indications of filming in the region as of late, including the sign in the Twitter image below that indicates that filming is going to be going on in the area roughly until we get around to June 30. It may not be happening everyday, but in looking at some of the scenery around there (a simple Google search is a good way to get more insight) it’s almost immediately clear as to why production would want to be venturing over to this area. It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful forested areas that we have had a chance to see in Scotland.
Of course, this climate with all of the trees and the water may help to explain further why there have been so many midges around — this location plus warmer weather means that the bugs are coming out to play!
For those wondering, Faskally Forest is located about an hour and a half away from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and is roughly halfway between those cities and Inverness. Given that filming seems to be happening in a fairly-remote place and part of the trail in the area is blocked off, we’re not sure we would recommend anyone making the trek up there since you may not be able to see all that much. Just know that filming seems to be going on for a little while longer, potentially until the end of the month. That goes in line with the schedule that we’ve written about as of late, as some of the actors are attending a convention both on the 30th and July 1. Hopefully, production will be wrapped up in plenty of time for that.
We are glad for the cast and crew that they are near the end of the road and almost to a well-deserved break. Finishing off production means that we’re about to be at the start of a brand-new era for the series, and it will be a pretty long wait until the show premieres in November.
