America’s Got Talent video: Noah Guthrie from Glee auditions!
The person auditioning in the new sneak peek below, via E! News, is Noah Guthrie. Noah was a part of the final season of the aforementioned Fox musical comedy, and even had some big musical numbers during that show. On this show, he is performing a cover of a Rihanna song that clearly seems to have the attention of all of the judges. It is extremely good, and with that in mind if it’s hard to imagine a situation in which he does not get put through to the next round.
Now that we have said that, we do need to address the obvious elephant in the room. Are there going to be people upset that someone with this sort of showbiz background is a part of America’s Got Talent this season? Absolutely there will be. There have been people who are upset over far less when it comes to this show.
However, the problem that we have as a viewer is that we don’t want to start beating the arbiter of who deserves to be on this show and who does not. It makes sense that everyone wants their to be great undiscovered talent on these shows, but the reality there in turn is that there are only so many great undiscovered talents these days in the age of YouTube and so many other mediums. America’s Got Talent feels the pressure to have great performers time and time again. While Guthrie may have had an opportunity years ago, we do still think he is worthy of another one now. He’s grown up a lot and his sound is different, judging from this.
We do like that Noah is a part of this show, but we also would not be surprised if he faces more of an uphill battle than some of his other contestants with his past in mind. We have seen situations on the show in the past where well-known singers and performers end up getting cut before the live shows, almost without warning and somewhat inexplicably. If that does happen here, it does still give Noah a nice little boost in his career. He is an incredible Talent, so for now we are more than happy that he is a part of the show. We’ll just see what happens from here. For those who were wondering, Guthrie’s last major television credit was Glee, and that was back in 2015.
