Pose episode 3 preview: Getting into the holiday spirit

Pose

Who is ready for Christmas in June? That’s something that is going to be coming up on Pose episode 3 when it airs on FX next week. The show is going to give you an installment that is somewhat themed around the holidays, but also putting on a fantastic celebration. There are important cultural themes in this episode and beyond that, big decisions to make. One of the biggest ones is going to put the character of Elektra at the center of the story.

Below, the Pose episode 3 synopsis gives you a reasonably good idea as to what is coming up next:

The House of Evangelista celebrates the holidays and prepares for the Snow Ball in spite of Angel’s lack of holiday spirit. Elektra contemplates undergoing an affirming medical procedure. Written by Janet Mock & Our Lady J; directed by Nelson Cragg.

One thing that you should know is that Pose episode 3 will be a little shorter than the series premiere or episode 2, something that we do think is needed at this point. As great as the series is, we do think that there is an inherent risk that goes along with airing episodes that are so long. It’s simply harder to keep audiences invested week to week.

We do think, at least for the most part, Pose was a show designed with streaming / DVR viewing in mind just as much as watching live. Many of these episodes are about the same length as episodes of a Netflix series, at least when you deduct the commercials from the mix.

What’s the state of the ratings?

As of right now, the series is off to a decent start with almost 700,000 viewers, and we hope to see things stay that way for most of the remainder of this season. That is, of course, the struggle for any new series — you have to figure out a way to retain such viewership.
