Poldark season 4 video: All about the villains!

With the premiere of Poldark season 4 coming on BBC One this weekend, there are a number of different things worthy of some excitement. Of course, we know that there are many people out there who watch because of Aidan Turner and the good guys, but of course any good series needs its fair share of adversaries, as well! This is where Christian Brassington (Osbourne Whitworth) and Jack Farthing (George Warleggan) officially start to come into play.

In the video below via the talk series Lorraine, you can have a chance to see what both actors have to say about their nefarious roles, plus also getting to be a part of a show like Poldark overall. There are so many excellent things that come from being a part of this show and you really do get the sense that both of them do relish in it — even if their characters are at times terrible.

If there is a silver lining here when it comes to George, it is that this season could actually present an opportunity for him to be a little less nefarious — at least in terms of his home life. There are going to be some opportunities coming up for him to show a different, more caring side to Elizabeth and for the two of them to be a team. He’s learned a great deal from some of what they have been through and is actually going to be better towards her. (Granted, being better towards Ross may end up being an entirely different story — he is a political threat and because of that, much of the underlying tension between the two parties is still present.)

Meanwhile, for Osbourne the challenge is just finding out if there is any good in him at all and we’re not altogether sure that there is. He is a vicious, abusive man, and with his mother (played by Rebecca Front) coming on board this season, there will be more opportunities to learn about his history. Unfortunately, his mother does not appear to be altogether keen to halt any of his particularly-nasty habits in the slightest.

One fun part of the video below is seeing Brassington explain the process of gaining weight to play Ossie — let’s just say that there’s no real rhyme or reason for it other than just chowing down.
