Even more Timeless behind-the-scenes goodness via show writers

Timeless season 2 key art

We’re now a matter of weeks removed from upfronts and even still, we have not seen or heard any news just yet when it comes to the future of Timeless on NBC. What’s taking so long? It’s hard to say, but we do like to think that there are some serious discussions happening. Otherwise (and we’ve said this before), why on earth would the network make us wait so long for an answer? We certainly don’t think fans are going to respond kindly to a cancellation that has been simmering for this long.

Regardless of what happens in regards to the future of Timeless, we are glad to still present some of the latest behind-the-scenes teases via the show’s official writers room below alongside executive producer Eric Kripke. The value in these is that you get a better understanding of precisely what it takes to make a great series like this from the ground-up, whether it means crafting the perfect scripts or figuring out how to bring designs onto the creep. They also serve as a reminder that television, in so many different ways, is a collaboration. (Personally, we still love the comparison between Wall-E and Eve for the Lifeboat and the Mothership — it’s totally perfect and we never realized it until we actually saw the shows air.)

If Timeless does get renewed, don’t be surprised if NBC waits to premiere it until the spring — we also wouldn’t be shocked if the network opted to make it a summer series, mostly because it has the format and the potential to work there. It could also air at an earlier hour potentially and get some more family viewers. One of its biggest challenges was just airing so late in the night.
