Reverie episode 2 sneak peek: Enter the world of super-spies
In the sneak peek below (via TVLine), you can get a good sense of what we’re talking about here. Mara is tasked with going inside the reverie of a woman named Jane who is living out an elaborate secret-agent fantasy over and over again where she goes on adventures and takes out bad guys like she is some sort of super-spy capable of just about anything.
Why envision this as your perfect dream scenario? We’re curious to see what the overall formula for reveries is like as this season progresses, but on the surface it feels like some of the idea ones for clients are the ones in which they have an opportunity to either live out a great memory or do something that they never had an opportunity to do in life. It’s possible that Jane’s normal existence is very ho-hum and unexciting, and with that, she sees this as an opportunity to do something totally different and she’s all about that. It may give her a sense of power and control that she doesn’t have elsewhere.
This is where things do potentially get a little bit more painful for Mara, given that as this episode goes along, she now has to figure out a way in which to convince Jane from not being in this particular fantasy so that she can save her — yet, there’s obviously something that she appreciates about it. That’s one of the really interesting dichotomies about this show. Jane isn’t saving these people from what they perceive to be danger. She’s saving them from what they interpret to be some of their wildest dreams. The premiere episode was rather enjoyable, so we’ll see where things go from here moving into episode 2.
