Supergirl season 3 episode 21 is coming to The CW on Monday night and based on the extended promo below, there is one major question to ponder over: Why in the world would Kara Danvers leave Earth again?
The first time that Kara departed, it was so that she could figure out a way in which to defeat Reign. It’s really hard to imagine her doing that again unless she was to think that Earth was in good shape. We know that she’d love to spend time with her mother and some other people from Krypton, but why leave unless you are certain nothing else will happen? Ultimately, she must be lured into some false sense of security … and this could be where Serena comes into play.
As we’ve seen through most of the season, Serena is really the person who is puppeteering much of what is going on with the Worldkillers and who has some grand master plan for what they should do. Yet, we’ve also seen at this point that she is actually alive, contrary to what everyone may have thought most of the season. We do wonder if some events of the promo are a little bit misleading when it comes to the order of things — a part of that may just be intentional, since the show has to disguise any of the big twists that they’ve come up with in advance. This past episode did feel in part like a pivot from most of what we’ve seen so far this season; as we do approach the finale, we’ve got a pretty good feeling that said pivot is going to continue as the central threat for the season is a little bit different as many of us first gauged.
We just hope along the way here that Kara makes it back in time quickly enough to face it.
