Big Brother 20: Where are we now in the pre-show process?

Big brother 20

The premiere of Big Brother 20 on June 27 is now less than a month away! It’s been a long wait, as it always is, but we’re very much stoked to see what the makeup of the house and the cast is this time around.

Is there a touch of irony when it comes to hyping up a show that come August or September, we’ll be ranting about every few weeks? Sure, but such is life when you are a fan of this show. You love it enough to be infuriated when contestants make decisions you consider to be ridiculous and a waste of everyone’s time.

Ultimately, what we know at the moment, per casting director Robyn Kass, is this: The semifinalists for this season have been cast and the show is moving into some of the final stages of preseason before everyone enters the house. One of the things that this will hopefully do is start to squelch the talk that the final houseguests were selected as of a few days ago, since we don’t think anything will be official for a little while longer. There are always alternates, and at times there houseguests in general who are last-minute decisions. You always want to have a certain degree of flexibility during the casting process because things can often change — at times, they are often even better if they do since you want to keep challenging yourself.

We’ve already made this clear, but our dream Big Brother season at this point is all new houseguests, a movement away from the typical archetypes a la Texas boy and beauty queen/cheerleader, and also an opportunity to see these contestants really have control of their own destiny without any influence from America. If the season isn’t as exciting because of it, we can live with that.
