The Lucifer season 3 DVD box art: A source of comfort

Lucifer

We’ve got another story to report on today within the #SaveLucifer campaign, and this time it has to actually do with the Lucifer season 3 DVD / Blu-Ray cover.

Earlier this afternoon, there was a bit of a mini-panic courtesy of some DVD box art that came out with “The Third and Final Season” at the top of it. That was certainly unfortunate … but even when we saw that, didn’t immediately take it as a cause for concern. Given that the set isn’t coming out until you get around to August 28, there was plenty of time for things to change depending on what is decided.

Ultimately, though, the box art changed mere hours later! The image below is the official box art for the season. This makes it clear that this is just the “Complete Third Season,” which certainly makes it clear that there is still hope for a Fourth. The campaign lives on! There’s been a lot of effort to save the show and a lot of it is coming from Warner Bros. TV — the studio that is also responsible for releasing the set.

For those wondering, we know that the season 3 DVD is going to contain a behind-the-scenes featurette and the 2017 Comic-Con Panel in it. It also will have all 26 episodes of season 3, including the two bonus ones that aired on Fox recently. Given that the show’s future is still in question, and those episodes have already aired, that does make the most sense.

While we know that in 2018 there’s less of a desire to buy DVD collections for many different shows, personally we do still find there’s a lot of value! Never have we been more grateful to have complete seasons of Chuck on DVD than after Netflix stopping carrying. Streaming deals don’t often last forever … though we do hope that Lucifer finds a streaming provider for a fourth season and it stays there for quite some time.
