America’s Got Talent 13: Zurcaroh acrobats receive golden buzzer via Tyra Banks!

Tonight, the America’s Got Talent premiere brought you many big acts — but it also did give you a sense of the first Golden Buzzer act of the season. We knew it was coming, and ABC went ahead and ruined the whole surprise by having the Golden Buzzer act be the last one to show up on the night.

Here’s the good news for those who like variety: It was a dance / acrobatic act to get the golden buzzer! It wasn’t a singer this time around, which we’ve seen on many occasions in the past. Zurcaroh was the name of the group, which is something that the show probably could’ve done more to advertise on the show other than the social media moniker at the end of the performance. This was PURE energy from start to finish, and we’re not altogether sure that the America’s Got Talent stage has ever seen anything quite like it. It’s a huge act with a lot of performers, and we think that they could have a real future in Las Vegas based on this alone. There were kids, there were adults, and they all delivered from start to finish.

What we wonder now is simply this: Where in the world is this group going to go from here. How in the world do you top this sort of audition? The pressure is now on them to find a way to keep impressing. Tyra Banks has used her buzzer in the best way possible, and that is to give this group an opportunity to have both a future and more attention on them moving forward.

All in all, this was very much a worthy Golden Buzzer act, mostly because of the fact that it was so different than any other we’ve seen. It was theatrical, dangerous, exciting, and intense.
