What can Blindspot season 4 do to help secure a season 5?

BlindspotEarlier this month, the great news was first revealed that there will be a Blindspot season 4 coming up on NBC. Yet, there is still no word on the series’ long-term future beyond that. We’re probably not going to get a sense for another ten or eleven months as to whether or not we could get another batch of episodes and that’s going to be a rather big challenge to deal with.

With all of this in mind, we circle back to the question at the top of the article — is there anything that the series can do in order to ensure that there is a season 5 in the future? We have a few ideas…

Promotion – We really think that clarity here is going to be the most important thing, especially given the fact that Blindspot is not going to be drifting at all from the timeslot it now has. It is firmly situated there, and we absolutely do not think the ratings are going to improve on there own from where the show was in season 3.

A structure that is fairly easy to follow – We do think that with this show, sometimes less complicated is good. It may be hard to uncomplicate things too much given the way that season 3 ended with Remi back in the picture, but if there is a way the producers can figure this out it would be much appreciated in the end.

Prominent guest stars – We always think that this helps out a show like Blindspot, but if there is one caveat we would throw out there, it’s this: Prominent guest stars who also just so happen to be organically woven into the story. We don’t necessarily need some sort of stunt casting here.

A new mystery – Introduce something at the start of the season that causes viewers to spend most of the year struggling to figure it out. That is something that the team over at the Blacklist has done a really good job at over time.
