Outlander season 4: New Sam Heughan – John Bell photo
on Thursday, Starz released the latest sneak peek photo for Outlander season 4, and this one features none other than Sam Heughan and John Bell front and center. It shows the two wearing what is some of the local period garb presumably in Wilmington, North Carolina. For those curious in regards to the history of the city, it actually originates well before Jamie and Claire first arrived in America. Some of the first settlers arrived and the general vicinity in the 1720s (though Europeans spent time there long before that), and following that the community started to spread with many people coming over from various parts of the “old world.” We know that through season 4 we are going to see how many of these communities function within this era, in addition to (of course) how both people and place interact with some of our heroes.
Is this photo giving away anything that constitutes an enormous spoiler for season 4? Hardly. It seems based on the facial reactions alone that this is a photo taken in jest. Yet, you to learn a little something about it just because of the costumes and the tremendous set design of one Jon Gary Steele. The show continues to do a great job of mirroring North Carolina through Scotland, where they are currently filming. This looks as though you are stepping back into a completely different world, but also one that is different from what we saw over the first few seasons.
For those of you who are non-readers, it may be especially welcome to see a photo of Young Ian given the way in which season 3 wrapped up for him. This is someone who went through some pretty awful things at the hands of the Bakra and we do imagine that he is still doing what he can in order to recover from some of that. We’re hopeful that at the season goes along, we are going to get an opportunity to see a little bit more of the playfulness and fun from him again that we at one point saw back when he was first introduced.
Outlander season 4 premieres on Starz come November, and hopefully this fun photo of Jamie and Young Ian — presumably taking in some of the sights while acquainting themselves with this world — is a great foundation for other fun stuff that is coming.
