Outlander star Caitriona Balfe joins Matt Damon, Christian Bale in off-season project
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Balfe is joining A Quiet Place actor Noah Jupe, Christian Bale, and Matt Damon in an upcoming moving directed by Logan / Walk the Line helmer James Mangold. The movie currently does not have a title, but it focuses on the battle between Ford and Ferrari to become the top maker of race cars in the world. Damon is going to be the “eccentric engineer” Carol Shelby, the man behind the design of the Ford GT 40. This is the car that could change the game in the 1966 race at Le Mans. Meanwhile, Bale is going to play the driver of said car in Ken Miles. Balfe is going to play Miles’ wife, who just so happens to also be a strong driver in her own right. Jupe will play the part of Miles’ son, a who is concerned about what could happen with his father out on the track.
Filming for this project is going to start taking place this summer in Los Angeles, so hopefully there will be some more news out there about it in due time. Typically, we do not focus on movies at CarterMatt, but we understand that there’s an interest from Outlander fans and want to get some more insight on what the cast is up to.
Given that Caitriona and the rest of the cast has a hiatus that lasts from this summer until early 2019, there is a chance that she and Sam both could line up more than one project if they really want to. That, of course, depends on scheduling and how long they will have to be involved in their current project.
