Supergirl season 3 spoilers: Erica Durance on big Alura surprise

Erica Durance

What’s coming on Supergirl season 3 Monday night? Basically, we’re getting a major story in which Alura will, by some measure, be returning from the dead. Are we speaking literally here? Not exactly; instead, it just so turns out that Kara’s biological mother didn’t die as was first thought. She’s been out there, but what she is set to learn on this upcoming episode “Dark Side of the Moon” is that not only is Kara still alive, but she is also a superhero who has been working tirelessly to help those in need.

Let’s just say that there are probably going to be some jaw-dropped moments ahead in this episode based on some of what we’ve laid out here, and that’s something that Erica Durance (who is playing Alura now after Erica Durance had the role previously) commented on further to TVLine:

“…She didn’t [know Kara was alive], and so this is the first time that you see Alura discovering the fact that her daughter did in fact live. She had lost everyone else and here she has this miracle, her daughter’s come back into her life. There is a little bit of, “Oops, it kind of worked out for us — we saved ourselves! — but I’d already sent you off in a pod.”

There are going to be some other issues here that do still need a further examination, including why Alura didn’t reach out to her daughter after so much time. This is something that Kara could wonder about, but we have to assume that the show writers have, as well. What’s also interesting here is trying to figure out what this all means for Supergirl’s time on Earth. While we would assume she would stick around in order to ensure Reign’s destruction, what happens after that? Is it possible that the character finds her way back to her old family for a while? At this point, we do think that all subjects have to be pondered over in some way.
