While Code Black season 3 episode 5 may not be airing on CBS this week, apparently the network has come up with a way of making it up to everyone: They are airing two episodes on Wednesday, May 30! This will be the show’s biggest chance to tell some ambitious stories this season … and it may also be the most important night of the year in terms of the show’s ratings. The great lead-ins from Survivor and SEAL Team are gone and with that, it has to stand on its own two feet. Given that the network has yet to make a formal decision on the future here, these episodes could be especially significant.

While you wait for these episodes to air, we’ve accumulated some details for both of them below.

Season 3 episode 5 – “Cabin Pressure” – Over the radio, Leanne and Jesse talk a young girl through how to use the supplies on board a small plane to build a makeshift defibrillator when her mom, the pilot, loses consciousness mid-flight. Also, Rox and Willis are taken hostage at gunpoint while on their way to meet the plane at the landing site. Julitta Scheel, Marcia Gay Harden’s daughter, stars as Ruby Harris, the young girl on the plane, on CODE BLACK, at a special time, Wednesday, May 30 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

It seems like every medical show these days features at least one episode aboard a flight and this one should be especially intense. We do love the fact that Marcia Gay Harden’s real-life daughter is getting a chance to appear.

Season 3 episode 6 – ““Hell’s Heart” – Willis and Rox arrive to the scene of a wildfire in the mountains of Los Angeles to tend to injured firefighters, and they volunteer to stay to look for a missing young boy who was separated from his father in the chaos. Also, Campbell confides in Angus about the difficulty with his job when his daughter becomes ill, on CODE BLACK, Wednesday, May 30 (10:00-11:00PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

As someone who remembers when these wildfires were happening last year — especially in terms of some close calls and terrible situations — we’re interested to see how this episode spotlights some of this. This may be an especially personal episode for Rob Lowe, as his Santa Barbara home last year was dangerously close to being burned down.
