The Flash season 4 finale video: Inception into DeVoe’s mind
Sometimes, you cannot beat villains via traditional means, which is precisely why in order to beat Clifford DeVoe, the team is apparently going to have to take on the battle via a completely different approach — entering his mind directly. In the sneak peek below executive producer Todd Helbing discusses an episode that could feel very much like Inception, with Barry Allen and the remainder of Team Flash trying to navigate through the inner workings of Clifford’s brain in order to properly determine precisely what is happening in there. This is a suggestion brought to them via Marlize DeVoe, who was recruited at the end of this past episode after she initially tried to flee to London to get away from all of the craziness. For her there was a difference between not wanting to be with him and then working against him, but Iris has convinced her of a larger purpose.
This sneak peek does not offer up too much in the way of hints regarding the resolution of this case; yet, in the end we do believe that the show is set to move forward with a different story and a different Big Bad moving into season 5. Beyond that, there is also the impending revelation within the Mystery Girl story, something that first began back during the Crisis on Earth-X crossover a little bit earlier this season. At the end of the finale we are poised to finally learn once and for all who this person really is and all signs do point towards them being an integral part of season 5 — at least in terms of setting things up.
