Supergirl season 3 episode 19 video: Guardian’s possible unmasking

Supergirl

When Supergirl season 3 episode 19 airs on The CW Monday night, you will see what is in part a very different episode than what we’ve had a chance to check out for the bulk of this season.

After all, at the forefront of this episode is going to be a crisis for James Olsen as he runs the risk of being unmasked as Guardian, all because of an incident with some National City police officers that appears in some ways to be racially motivated. As executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller note in the sneak peek below, a big narrative drive within this episode is going to be exploring the concept of being a black man in America, especially through James’ specific lens and his past. It’s a chance to dive in to something a little more human and personal in the midst of a show that has been dealing a lot with Reign, Worldkillers, and entities that are a little more supernatural.

Beyond just everything that is going on with James in this episode, though, be prepared to also see the crux of the crisis between Supergirl, Lena Luthor, and Kara. It’s going to become increasingly tough for Kara to separate herself from her super alter ego, but she is going to have to when it comes to her relationship with Lena. After all, if it does ever come out that she is Supergirl, Lena is never going to trust her again. As a matter of fact, this could be the one thing that really causes the relationship to spiral and send Lena down a very dark path. Think about it — not only would she learn that Kara has been lying to her, but also that the majority of her friends have been, in one way or another, complicit in keeping this said secret.
