Gotham season 5 could add Lady Shiva, Scarface, other villains

When you start to look ahead now towards Gotham season 5, one thing feels abundantly clear: So many villains, so little time! The series has to find a way to incorporate many of the characters that you already know and love over the course of the final thirteen episodes of the season, while at the same time also bringing in some new faces along the way. There will probably be a few foes on the wishlist that don’t quite make it in, but we imagine that the series will do the best that it can.

Speaking per Comic Book Resources, show executive producer John Stephens does make it clear as to some of the ones he would like to see stop by:

“There are a whole bunch of characters I want to see that I feel the viewers at large aren’t fully aware of, like Scarface or Ventriloquist … There’s a great dark version of that character somewhere out there who I would like to see come out. Some characters we know we want to see are Mother and Orphan. We want to see Lady Shiva. We are going to see all those characters in Season 5.”

Of this group, Lady Shiva intrigues us the most just because she is one of the more notorious villainesses that we have yet to see featured on Gotham in the past. Scarface and Ventriloquist are a duo that could be intriguing, depending on how it is done for the show. You have to find a way to do a dark version of the character without said character also being incredibly annoying, and we’ve got a feeling that this is one of those things that is so much more difficult than the standard villain. It’s okay to have comedic villains in the Batman universe who just don’t surface in Gotham, so fingers crossed that this ends up working in a way we cannot telegraph right now.
