The Blacklist season 6: Who is Raymond Reddington?
Ultimately, there are going to be a lot of theories floating around out there. There are too many out there to really even count! Yet, let’s go through a few of them that have crossed our mind.
A secret sibling – It would explain why “Reddington” would know as much about his family history.
An obsessed follower – One of the biggest struggles with any Reddington imposter largely has to do with the fact that whoever they are needs to be someone who understands who the man is and what makes them tick. This does take a certain degree of obsession.
Katarina Rostova – This has been one of the biggest and most-popular theories out there for quite some time. There would need to be a lot of work done to validate this but it’s one of the clearest possibilities that is out there.
No matter who the imposter is, the largest problem that The Blacklist has is trying to find someone who has a good reason to impersonate Reddington and we will also care about at the same time. After all, this imposter isn’t someone we have met — from the pilot on, they’ve been living this lie.
In speaking about this further in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, here is what Jon Bokenkamp (show creator) had to say about the unraveling of these theories:
I do think that is primarily the reason to come back in season 6, but you can go online and find all kinds of theories, imposter theories of who he is. There are a great number of them, by the way, many of which could make sense. But one of the things I love best about the show is that I can read some of these and I’d be like, “Well, that actually tracks.” What’s going to be the most fun about next season is watching Liz peel back this onion and get to the truth of why this man entered her life five years ago.
