The Walking Dead season 9: Avi Nash and Callan McAuliffe promoted

Walking Dead season 8

When The Walking Dead season 8 airs on AMC, there are going to be officially a pair of new names added to the regular cast in Avi Nash and Callan McAuliffe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, these two actors (who play the roles of Siddiq and Alden on the show) are both going to be coming back in a larger capacity. Based on the end of this past season it certainly feels like the two could add a lot to the show — the former offers up some medical expertise that is certainly going to be needed in this community (though doctors do not exactly have the best track record), whereas the latter offers up more insight on the Saviors than many other characters outside Sanctuary.

These additions come amidst a time where there are a lot of different departures taking place. For starters, Chandler Riggs (who plays Carl) is obviously gone from the series at the moment. Beyond that, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) is only going to be in a handful of season 9 episodes and the future of Austin Amelio (Dwight) is currently unclear based on the way in which he departed. Lennie James, at least for now, is over on Fear the Walking Dead and there’s no clear indication as to when he could come back to the flagship show.

The Walking Dead season 9 should premiere on AMC a little bit later this fall and hopefully soon there will be even more news when it comes to additions — though the series does tend to be notoriously hush-hush on many of these over time. Fingers crossed that we get a little bit more insight on who could be appearing next coming up in the near future.
