Timeless season 2 episode 8 review: Saving Agent Christopher

Timeless season 2 episode 8

What happened on Timeless season 2 episode 8 was pretty darn powerful from start to finish, both in terms of changing the future for some characters and preserving it for others.

Let’s begin here, though, with the story of Agent Christopher, which was a huge spotlight of the episode for a couple of different reasons. For starters, Rittenhouse had traveled back to the 1980’s in order to try and kill her in order to keep her from being able to lead the time team in the future. It wasn’t clear what their intention was at first glance, but that became a little bit clearer as the episode went along and some more pieces started to fall into place.

Beyond just that, though, there was another goal for the team: Doing everything within their power in order to ensure that Denise ended up being able to meet her future wife in the future. This meant that Lucy and Jiya, under the code-names of Cagney and Lacey, had to give her the knowledge and also the bravery to fight the good fight for who she was. They were able to get through to her and because of that, she was able to tell her mother about her true feelings towards marrying a man; that actually ended up helping her further in the present-day timeline.

It was rather fun to see Karen David of Galavant play a younger version of Christopher in the past, just as it was rather great to see Sakina Jaffrey get such great material as Christopher in the present. Over the course of this episode we saw her wrestle with how to handle herself in the midst of the case. While she trusted the Time Team, by the same token she recognized that there was a chance her entire family could disappear — if that happened, Flynn encouraged her that she wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. (Look at Flynn trying to be there for some other people! Good on him for trying to show a different side of himself.)

While learning more about Lucy and the journal that she eventually gives over to Flynn is rather interesting, the big cliffhanger tonight came via Jessica, who has a very different life than Wyatt remembers — for starters, her brother is still alive. Also, she’s pregnant, which we imagine is going to make things very interesting given that we’re near the finale, and that she has some sort of connection to Rittenhouse.

CarterMatt Verdict

Timeless season 2 episode 8 proved itself to be a rather great installment of the series in terms of giving us a little more insight on Agent Christopher both in terms of her past and also everything she’s going through in the present. Also, we saw more of Flynn’s human side and a pretty great tease for the finale, as well.
