Grey’s Anatomy season 14: Three reasons to have hope for April
Yet, there are still some reasons to cross your fingers and have a little bit of hope for this character’s future. We are not out of the woods when it comes to April yet and there are some ways in which we can imagine her surviving. We want to believe that she will, and we hope that some of the things we’ve seen this season are indicators that we could.
1. The return of Matthew Taylor – Think back to what already happened to one of Matthew’s other great relationships earlier this season — they met a fate that was, to be frank, pretty untimely. We don’t think that this character is being brought back for the final episodes of the season just to mourn someone all over again. We like to think there’s more hope than that.
2. The fact that April’s life-or-death crisis is happening in the penultimate episode – When you think back to “Flight” and also “How to Save a Life,” those were crises that were largely contained in a single episode. Stretching out a possible character death, especially someone like April, over the course of a couple of episodes just feels rather cruel. With that in mind, we really hope that the producers go in a little bit of a different direction here.
3. There’s no reason for it – We already know that characters within Shondaland can be killed off and with that in mind, why do you need to enforce that point several more times over? Also, it wasn’t Sarah Drew’s decision to leave the show and we would like to think that this is an exit that can lead to another appearance from her at some other point down the line.
