Should the Bull season 2 finale have a cliffhanger?
Should there be one? At the moment, we definitely understand what the merit in doing something like this. After all, it provides that sort of big, jaw-dropping moment that really gets people talking for many months to come. There are some shows out there that really love amplifying the drama with a big cliffhanger. With Bull, there are a number of ways you could create drama — you could throw the future of the team in question, have Bull continue a downwards spiral to a terrible end, or just come up with some sort of to-be-continued element to the case.
Yet, another valuable question here is this: Does Bull really need a cliffhanger? We don’t think that it does. This is a show that is all about beginnings, middles, and ends. We get this almost every episode and we don’t need to see too big of a reason to change that unless your cliffhanger is some sort of a home run. Despite the high stakes of the series there is a comfort-food quality to Bull — the TAC is a family and you care about them every single minute in which they are on screen together. Focus more on the characters in the finale and you are going to have a winner. At that point, it doesn’t really matter if you create some sort of big cliffhanger or not. We just want to be entertained, and knowing the quality of Bull season 2 to date we’ve got plenty of confidence in the writers and their ability to achieve that.
Beyond the cliffhanger, we already know that there’s going to be a season 3! That’s what matters the most when thinking about the long-term future of the entire cast and crew. There are going to be many more opportunities to tell great stories.
