Call the Midwife season 7 episode 7 video (PBS): Barbara’s crisis

Tom and Barbara - Call the Midwife season 7 episode 7

This Sunday Call the Midwife season 7 episode 7 is set to be airing over on PBS, and it feels already like there is one way in which we can describe it: Heart-wrenching.

Without given anything major away, the preview below offers up a very good sense as to what some of the stakes are for Barbara as she tries to recover in the hospital — unfortunately, it does not appear as though her condition is getting any better, which in turn leads to a surprising plea of self-sacrifice and a hope that, somehow, a higher power will be able to heal her. This is one of the scariest situations that we’ve seen on the show. While Call the Midwife has killed off characters in the past, they have not done it very often. There is very much that danger here with Barbara so we highly recommend coming into this episode with plenty of tissues in hand.

Also, remember this — we are still talking here about a series set in the 1960’s and in that time period, medicine is not even remotely close to the institution that it is today.

There are some other elements to this episode beyond just possible tragedy, including a story about finding a place in the world that will give Lucille an opportunity to see beyond just what she has with Poplar to date. This is a very good story that we hope gets appreciated — the problem here is that it, so obviously, is going to be overshadowed by what happens with Barbara and there is no other way to get around that.

No matter what happens in this episode, rest assured of this: We’ll be there on the other side to help talk it out.
