Code Black season 3 premiere ratings down; Designated Survivor hits low

Code Black season 3 premiere ratings

We didn’t necessarily have huge expectations for the Code Black season 3 ratings given the latest start and also the long wait between seasons. With that in mind, we consider the new ratings via CBS to be a mixture of good news and bad.

Wednesday night’s new episode drew as a whole a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and that was enough to tie the show for #1 on the night. However, it was tied with a repeat of Chicago PD and you have to think that NBC is going to take over this timeslot the moment that it comes back on the air with another new episode of the cop show.

So far, Code Black is down in the ratings more than 25% in the demo from the season 2 average, but is only down about 7% in total viewers. It’s a little too early to say one way or another if the series is going to be able to come back with another season.

As for some other ratings news on the night, we’re starting to have a feeling that not even Kiefer Sutherland’s international popularity may be able to save Designated SurvivorWe know that ABC may have promoted the series as the next big thing back when it first came on the air but at this point, it’s starting to become all the more clear that this could be the end of the road.

Elsewhere, Survivor and Empire ended up tying for #1 on the night with a 1.6 rating, and this is the part of the article where we all acted shocked that a show in its 36th season like Survivor is still somehow ending up being as popular as it is. While the ratings have declined over time, it’s still more popular than many other series on the network.

What do you think about the new Code Black season 3 premiere ratings, and do you think that it’s too early to tell what’s coming in terms of a season 4 renewal? Be sure to share right now in the comments!
