Blue Bloods season 8 episode 21 spoilers: Bebe Neuwirth back again

Blue Bloods season 8

Just in case you were left wanting more of Kelly Peterson after her appearance earlier this season, we come bearing some great news — Bebe Neuwirth is back for Blue Bloods season 8 episode 21, which is airing on CBS come Friday, May 4. This is a character who continues to have a great push-and-pull with Frank for many different reasons. She’s smart, savvy, and she also understands his point of view in a way that few others do. The difficulty that they face now is mostly that they don’t see eye to eye on many of the same issues. The people they now work for are a big part of the reason for that.

Judging from the synopsis below, Neuwirth’s return is going to come amidst a pretty big crisis for Frank, one in which he struggles to take on a data-tracking company in the midst of a crisis:

“The Devil You Know” – Frank goes head-to-head with a data-tracking company when they refuse to unlock the phone of a terrorist that may hold information regarding upcoming targets. Also, when Erin obtains information about an impending murder from a shady source, she gets Danny and Baez involved, despite the questionable agenda of the informant, and Jamie and Eddie try to locate a woman who kidnapped a newborn baby, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, May 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Bebe Neuwirth returns as Councilwoman Kelly Peterson.

There are two different ways in which Frank’s storyline feels relevant. For starters, it does feel like we’ve seen some headlines in the past about Apple being somewhat reluctant to help out law enforcement when it comes to unlocking phones; also, anytime we hear about data-tracking companies in 2018 we automatically think of Cambridge Analytica. We know we’re discussing two very different things but maybe this episode brings them both together in some sort of way.

As for what else is interesting about this synopsis, one of the more interesting parts of it is the idea of Danny and Erin working together — mostly because Erin being around typically means that Anthony is also around, and Danny and Anthony together is often the equivalent of two teenage brothers constantly fighting with one another. Their dynamic is often pretty hilarious — yet, when the going gets tough, they do figure out a way to work together.
