Is Homeland season 7 episode 12 a victory, a failure, or something in between? It’s tough to come up with a cohesive answer to this question, other than saying that it is the final episode of the season. This is a chance to understand better how the story of Carrie and Saul is coming to a close, at least for the time being. This is not the end of the story, as there is one more season confirmed beyond this one. It was confirmed by Claire Danes this week that season 8 is going to be the final one for the show; that’s hard to swallow, but we’ve had seven years of the show already. That’s so many more than the vast majority of shows out there receive and with that, there’s a lot to be happy about if you’re a Homeland fan.

Now, let’s try to figure out just how the story in the finale is going to go. Take a look at the Homeland season 7 episode 12 synopsis for a little more information on the subject:

On one level, we’re going to get a chance to see within this finale Carrie and Saul doing some of what they really do best — scrambling and trying to figure things out. On another level, though, you’re going to have a chance to see if it’s possible for Keane to actually repair some of what she’s done. She is someone who has made many mistakes and listened to many of the wrong people. The finale is going to mark a chance for Homeland to deliver its own state of the union, and determine whether or not they want this to be a story of hope or a story of despair. (At the moment, we would predict that the answer is going to fall somewhere in the middle.)
