Supergirl season 3 episode 17 spoilers: ‘Trinity’ and a Worldkiller showdown

Supergirl season 3 episode 17

Supergirl season 3 episode 17 is entitled “Trinity” and airing on May 7; based on what we’re getting a chance to read right now, this episode is big enough to serve as a finale in its own right. The twist here, though, is that in actuality, there are many more episodes coming on the other side.

Let’s kick this off by sharing the official synopsis — mostly because that gives you a pretty good sense as to how much drama lies ahead:

SUPERGIRL TAKES ON ALL THREE WORLDKILLERS – Still reeling after learning about Lena’s (Katie McGrath) secret, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) asks Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) for a favor that could alter his relationship with Lena forever. Meanwhile, with all three Worldkillers united, Supergirl and the team brace for an epic battle. Caitlin Parrish & Erica Weiss directed the episode with story by Jessica Queller and teleplay by Caitlin Parrish & Derek Simon (#317). Original airdate 5/7/2018.

How can you consider this anything other than an epic showdown? You’ve got Reign, Purity, and Pestilence facing off against Supergirl and potentially some of her other fellow heroes. We certainly know now that the incentive for Mon-El and Imra is there to take care of Pestilence, given what she otherwise becomes in the future and the problems that could pose for their era.

As for the Lena Luthor story, we understand why there are questions right now surrounding whether or not she’s heading over to the dark side. After all, it seems as though she’s taken some of her tests on Samantha to the next level. Do we think that her intentions here are right? Possibly so, since we can’t imagine her wanting to actually help Reign. Yet, at the same time not everyone could be altogether thrilled that she is keeping someone — especially a single mom — away from the rest of the world without their knowledge. (We’re, of course, assuming that this is her secret — there could be even more bubbling underneath the surface here.)
