The Originals season 5 episode 1 sneak peek: The family stays apart

It’s been a long time coming, but The Originals season 5 episode 1 is finally set to air on The CW Wednesday night! With that in mind, you’re about to get many different updates on some of these characters. That’s even what the sneak peek below is all about!

In this video, you can see Freya, Josh, Vincent, and Hayley all gather around in New Orleans for what looks, at least on the surface, to be a little bit of Mardi Gras planning. However, it turns not too long after that into a plan to ensure that no members of the Original family turn up. These people all know a little bit about what happens if they all come into contact with one another and, in the end, it’s certainly not pretty. There’s all sorts of chaos and drama that could happen, and the same goes Marcel given Marcel’s return could signal something when it comes to Rebekah.

This is a fun sneak preview, but it also does serve a further expositional purpose as you learn precisely where so many of the characters are in the aftermath of what happened at the of last season. This serves a great (but unfortunate) reminder that Elijah is off somewhere without any real understanding of what happened to him. Meanwhile, this also serves a good reminder that Klaus is off somewhere on a murderous rampage and with that in mind, he’s really not the sort of person you want to get into close contact with. The only end result that you could have from an interaction with him is not a good one.

Hopefully, this episode will give us at least some hope for a big reunion between some of these characters. We don’t necessarily think that it is going to come right away but it would be nice to have that happen at some point within the first handful of episodes.
