Timeless season 2 episode 6 preview: The story of Robert Johnson

Moving into Timeless season 2 episode 6 airing on NBC come April 22, if feels fair to call this episode different from many others. While the series is going to re-adopt the format of us getting to see the characters in the past (something that we did not have a chance to see tonight), they will be doing so in a very different configuration. Connor Mason is actually going to be heading back, and while in the Great Depression they are going to have a chance to see none other than Robert Johnson.

In the event that you haven’t heard too much about him just yet, we will allow the Timeless season 2 episode 6 synopsis below to speak for itself:

04/22/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Sunday) : When Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) and Jiya (Claudia Doumit) add a fourth seat to the Lifeboat, for the first time ever, Connor Mason (Paterson Joseph) joins the team as they travel back to the dusty backroads and smoky juke joints of the Depression-era South to rescue the life and legacy of Robert Johnson (guest star Kamahl Naiqui) – King of the Delta Blues, Godfather of Rock n’ Roll and a man who, legend has it, bought his musical genius from the Devil for the price of his soul. Meanwhile, Agent Christopher (Sakina Jaffrey) keeps Wyatt (Matt Lanter) in the present to execute a dangerous raid on Rittenhouse headquarters.

Johnson is renowned for being one of the greatest musical talents of the past hundred years, but there are so many things about him that we do not have clear answers to at the moment — including his mysterious death. There are just so many question marks surrounding him but in the end, we don’t foresee this episode presenting all that much when it comes to answers. Instead, we just imagine instead that this will be about celebrating Johnson’s life for what it was.

From a Rittenhouse perspective, what we do wonder at the moment is simply this: What do they have to gain for trying to wipe someone off of the face of the planet with such a Faustian legacy? What does that really do for them?
