Siren episode 5 preview: Return from the depths

Going into Siren episode 5 it’s pretty clear that there are going to be many questions worth asking. For starters, where does the story go from here? At the end of this past episode Ryn and her sister traveled back into the ocean, and in some ways you could consider that the end of an arc. When you think about everything that happened with Ryn and Donna over the course of the first four episodes, that was almost a season in its own right.

Yet, there are some other problems that are going to have to be dealt with from here on out, most notably the fact that there is still no solution with what is going on with the sirens’ habitat. There’s not enough food (which is what kicked all of this off in the first place), and with that in mind a big part of episode 5 is going to feature them coming back to the surface looking for a new source. They need to be able to survive and one of the best ways in which to do that is by scrounging up food on land. How far are Ryn and Donna willing to go for the sake of survival is one of the many interesting things about what’s coming up.

Granted, there are still many problems that await them on the surface, including the fact that Ryn is a murder suspect and you have to think that Donna’s escape from that military base is going to lead to some consequences. You get a small sense of this in the Siren episode 5 promo that CarterMatt has for you below, coupled with the attached synopsis:

Ben begins to investigate some suspicious overfishing, meanwhile Decker ramps up his efforts to find his escaped mermaid and shows the true extent of his influence.

By the end of this episode we are absolutely that there could be a few different surprises, especially in terms of setting up more of a long-term plot that could keep Ryn above the surface. Her story is a tragic one, especially with the state of the environment it’s hard to imagine there being a situation coming up where she starts to get a food supply and it becomes a better environment for her under water.
