Siren episode 4 ratings rise (as do season 2 odds)
After slipping in the numbers for episode 3 last week, the series is already showing a nice bit of consistency, moving back up to a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic for episode 4. In total viewers, meanwhile, the show moved back up to around 680,000 people watching live. These are both healthy increases and the demo numbers in particular show that Siren is really capturing a lot of young viewers — something that is more than critical for a series and its long-term success on a network like Freeform.
As for Siren’s season 2 odds, for the time being it feels like close to a given. So long as there is no sudden drop-off coming over the next few weeks, it’s hard to really fathom a situation in which someone over at the network decides that they don’t want to bring Siren back. It is performing extremely well, it is generating social-media traffic, and it’s also comparing very well to other shows that are on their roster. With The Fosters ending and with the upcoming Pretty Little Liars spin-off The Perfectionists still somewhat of an unknown, they need to really strike while the iron is hot when it comes to some of their other programming. In this particular case, it really does feel as though they have a series worth keeping and developing into something more.
There is no real hurry for Freeform to make a big move on Siren; however, it probably does benefit the network at this point to issue a renewal sooner rather than later. It’s only going to drive more publicity, and potentially, better ratings to the series as a whole.
