MacGyver season 2 episode 22 spoilers: UFOs and Area 51

MacGyver season 2 episode 22 may be the closest that the CBS series ever gets to crossing over with The X-Files. There may not be a Mulder or a Scully, but there will be a mysterious government operation at the center of the story. To make matters all the more interesting, the title for this episode (the last one before the finale) is “UFO + Area 51.” This episode will give MacGyver and Riley a lot to tackle and beyond that, an opportunity to give some significant information on one of this season’s key storylines: The quest for Mac to get more information about his father.

“UFO + Area 51” – Mac and Riley are attacked by a group of masked men after the government calls them in to examine a mysterious object that crash-landed in the Nevada desert. Also, Riley uncovers new information about Mac’s father but questions whether to deliver it to him after he says he needs to move on, on MACGYVER, Friday, April 27 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Isn’t this how things often work? Right when MacGyver starts to give up on the mission that has been haunting him for most of the season, he ends up getting some of the biggest clues that could lead him to some answers. The final episode of the season is entitled “MacGyver + MacGyver,” which is both keeping with the theme for this season while also suggesting that this could be the episode where Mac’s dad finally enters the picture. (Unfortunately, there has been no casting news confirmed for Mac’s dad as of yet, though hopefully that information will be coming in the near future.)

As for the UFO storyline, who doesn’t want to see a story featuring aliens, MacGyver-style? It may be crazy and creepy, but within this sort of comedic world it does make some sense that this would be something that the Phoenix Foundation would end up dealing with in some shape or form.
