Quick Hits: Alexa & Katie renewed; Big Little Lies casting; Bruce Willis roast

Alexa & Katie season 2

In today’s edition of TV Quick Hits there are a few different points worth getting to, but let’s begin with this big one when it comes to Netflix’s Alexa & Katie — the series is coming back for a second season!

While Netflix did unfortunately cancel one of their other comedies in Everything Sucks, they have gone ahead and announced they are bringing back the teen cancer series. This is a show that takes a look at a very difficult sort of subject matter; yet, it simultaneously finds a way to bring you that story within a format that is similar to so many classic sitcoms. This is a format that Netflix has been experimenting with when it comes to many of their different shows and they are finding some results that clearly, they have to be pretty satisfied with.

As for some other news of the day…

Comedy Central Roasts Bruce Willis – We’re not sure why it takes the network so long to announce new roasts, but their target this summer is going to be none other than the former Die Hard star. Odds are, this is going to be funny given that there is going to be a wealth of material. Expect a number of Demi Moore jokes plus variations of quotes from some of his most-famous movies.

The latest Big Little Lies season 2 casting news – According to The Hollywood Reporter, former Weeds actor Martin Donovan is going to be appearing on the second season of the hit HBO show as Bonnie’s father. Zoe Kravitz plays Bonnie and it already seems like she’s poised for a great season given (spoiler alert) what happened with Bonnie killing Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) at the end of season 1. There’s going to be a lot of great material for her going forward.

The second season of Big Little Lies is currently getting underway in pre-production with most of the main cast slated to return alongside some prominent new additions including the Meryl Streep as Perry’s mother. There is no premiere date as of yet for season 2, but hopefully that is something that will pop up soon. (As of right now, our sentiment is that you will see it in 2018.)
